Project location & overview:
The Great Yarmouth Operations and Maintenance Hub is an innovative and strategic project, sponsored by Norfolk County Council, Great Yarmouth Borough Council and New Anglia LEP, working in partnership with Peel Ports. Their vision is to redevelop the tip of the South Denes Peninsula in Great Yarmouth, initially providing road, quay and pontoon infrastructure for a new offshore energy maintenance campus.
The site was chosen due to its proximity to the Southern North Sea Wind Farms and marked regeneration land. The project aims to attract more renewable energy companies to the area, in turn creating 650 jobs and promoting Great Yarmouth’s presence within the sector.
Greyfriars Project Management is leading the delivery of the scheme through project and programme management, having been appointed by Norfolk County Council. Greyfriars’ Director Jon Barnard has led the delivery of a number of large infrastructure projects on the east coast, for example,the Gull Wing in Lowestoft and supporting the delivery of the Great Yarmouth Third River Crossing through DCO planning. Jon’s experience makes him ideally suited to managing a complex scheme with a variety of stakeholders, targets and challenges. Emily Harvey is supporting the project delivery through provision of programme management and project control tools.
This site has been prepared for construction with demolition of the warehouses, relevant testing and surveys taking place. Construction is due to take place during 2022, with handover early 2023.
This is an exciting project for Greyfriars as it encompasses marine and highways design, planning application coordination and stakeholder management.
