Great Yarmouth O&M Hub: Pontoon Arrival Captured by Drone Footage

Transforming Offshore Wind Operations in East Anglia

Our Senior Project Manager Tom Warnes was onsite to capture Great Yarmouth O&M Hub Pontoon Arrival with Greyfriars new drone! The arrival of new pontoons at the Operations and Maintenance Campus in Great Yarmouth marks a major step for clean energy in East Anglia. Captured by drone at Great Yarmouth port, this milestone strengthens the town’s role as a hub for offshore wind operations and the UK supply chain.

Pontoon Arrival: A Spectacle at Great Yarmouth Port

The footage shows two 21-metre fixed bridges and two 30-metre link sections arriving by barge, escorted by tugs. Manufactured in Deest, Holland, these components spent over 24 hours crossing the Channel before reaching the redeveloped South Denes Peninsula. The installation at Berth 75 creates a 120-metre mooring platform for Crew Transfer Vessels, vital for offshore wind farm support.

Major Loan Boost: Norfolk County Council’s Support for Offshore Wind Hub

Great Yarmouth O&M Hub Pontoon Arrival is a significant catalyst for the Great Yarmouth O&M Hub’s success has been the financial backing from Norfolk County Council. Through the Norfolk Infrastructure Fund, the Council has provided a major loan to support the delivery of the offshore wind hub, enabling the transformation of the South Denes Peninsula and the installation of vital infrastructure such as the new pontoons.

This investment demonstrates strong local government commitment to economic growth, renewable energy jobs in Great Yarmouth, and the region’s role in the UK offshore wind supply chain. The loan is expected to unlock further investment, create hundreds of jobs, and help position Great Yarmouth as a leading centre for clean energy infrastructure in the UK.
