CDM for Clients: Team Training Day

CDM for Clients: Team Training Day

On Monday, our team completed their annual refresher on CDM for Clients training. This training ensures that we can support our clients in understanding CDM regulations. The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) provides this training to help client-side teams understand and fulfil their responsibilities under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.

Client Responsibilities Under CDM

Under CDM, clients have several important responsibilities; they must appoint a principal designer and a principal contractor for projects involving more than one contractor. The principal designer plans, manages, monitors, and coordinates health and safety during the pre-construction phase, ensuring effective risk management from the outset. However, clients must be aware they cannot completely handover their responsibilities for safe working.

Importance of CDM for Clients Training

The CDM for Clients course is mandatory for Greyfriars’ client-side project staff involved in construction projects. It ensures that our project managers fully understand their clients’ legal duties and can oversee projects with a strong focus on health and safety. The training covers key topics such as:

  • Overview of CDM 2015: Understanding the regulations and their application
  • Client Responsibilities: Detailed roles and responsibilities of clients, principal contractors, principal designers, contractors, and designers
  • Project Documentation: Requirements for pre-construction information, construction phase plans, and health and safety files

Benefits for Greyfriars Project Management

Offering this training underscores Greyfriars Project Management’s commitment to maintaining high standards of health and safety. This step enhances our professional capabilities and provides our clients with the assurance that we will manage their projects in full compliance with legal standards.

Commitment to Investing in Our Staff
