On 22nd October, Greyfriars attended Bright Futures Live at City College Norwich. This careers event, organised by Norfolk Constructing Excellence and Construction East, brought together over 40 exhibitors. It aimed to inspire young people and address the skills gap in the construction industry.

Why Construction Careers Matter
Construction shapes the places we live, work, and learn. It supports communities and drives economic growth. In East Anglia, demand for skilled professionals is rising. However, many roles remain misunderstood or overlooked. Events like Bright Futures Live help change that.
They offer students a chance to explore real career paths. They also allow employers to connect with future talent. This is especially important in regions like Norfolk, where public sector projects and infrastructure are expanding.

Spotlight on T Level Construction Students
Bright Futures Live welcomed hundreds of T Level construction students. These students combine classroom learning with practical experience. They are preparing for roles in project management, cost consultancy, and site supervision.
Greyfriars was impressed by their confidence and curiosity. Many asked thoughtful questions and showed genuine interest in the industry. We were proud to help them explore what construction careers can offer.
Our Contribution
Representing both Greyfriars Project Management and Greyfriars Cost Management, our team shared insights into:
- Project governance and delivery
- Strategic cost consultancy
- Employers Agent services
- Public sector construction projects
- Social value and sustainability in the built environment
We also ran a light-hearted quiz asking students: Are you Team Red (Project Management) or Team Blue (Cost Management)? The results? A strong 62.5% leaned towards project management—highlighting a growing interest in leadership and coordination roles.

Looking Ahead
Greyfriars is exploring T Level placements to give students hands-on experience. We believe early engagement helps build a stronger, more inclusive industry. It also ensures that students see the full range of opportunities available in construction.
